Hey, Doc, Can the threads in the original bridge be repaired?
Might look into a hell-coil for the master tune knob...

    Good idea, General

There is always a workaround for glitches, mistakes and other Guitar building gremlins.....

I suppose it probably can be repaired with a heli-coil, but I'd rather just cut to the chase and replace the original bridge with a better quality one, the original bridge was one of those cheap Overlord Of Music Steinberger copies and had some manufacturing issues.

Maybe I should cut my losses, buy a PBG Headless Guitar kit, build it, and just be done with it?

    Update:

It's been a while so I thought that I would post an update for this thread, anyway, I've been doing some browsing on eBay recently for a new replacement bridge for my Headless Guitar that's more within my budget, and I think my searching is over, I'm planning on buying one of these bridges with brass roller inserts on each string saddle, it appears to be of reasonable quality, anyway, here's a link so you can check it out:

To fit the new bridge to the guitar body, it looks like I'll have to modify the original bridge routing a bit, but I reckon it's only a minor problem since I've compared the dimensions given for the new bridge with the body routing, should be no real problems that I can foresee, so, this project will be one I'm goiung to work on during the next few fortnights.

For sure mate, I was starting to despair of ever being able to get the Headless Guitar to a finished and playable state, after I've received the new bridge in the post, I'm going to have a yarn with that local Darwin Luthier about getting the neck pickup rout enlarged to accept a Humbucker pickup, the middle pickup rout will be filled in so that the guitar only has a Neck humbucker and a Bridge humbucker, the controls will be a master volume, master tone, and 3-way pickup selector, I've got three options for the body finish, solid Metallic Blue, solid Soft Silver, and White like my RG350DXZ.

sounds like a plan Doc, well if the Hot rod strat is going to be metallic blue then go for a different colour, but that's up to you

I'm actually leaning towards a solid Soft Silver finish with this project, should look cool with the black hardware.

    Update:

I've finally gotten round to buying the new bridge for my Headless Guitar on eBay so that means one more piece of the puzzle has been put in place, I should be getting it in the post within a fortnight or two's time....then the fun begins.
