Yea, I could have probably bought something expensive from a factory in the USA with what I've spent on kits and upgrades but there is no fun in just buying something. Been the same with cars and bikes, swords, firearms you name it. I'd much rather put my own work into something. Taught myself mechanics (won a Concourse with a bike I restored), learned hand forging swords and knives, also Japanese sword polishing ( that's an 5 to 8yr apprenticeship to learn properly, just the polishing!) , learned to build a rifle from just a bare action and barrel, learned to slick them up for competition, learned a bit of 2 and 3 D graphics, now it's learning to make guitars. Just an overgrown curious kid really.
