Never fitted a floyd rose trem so can't comment Doc.Ref sitar sound. This has happened to me early on if I'd cut the nut slots slightly too deep, or slots have been a little tight for gauge of string, another thing to check is if your string trees are low enough behind the nut.

Have checked that, on the stock plastic nut and the bone nuts, all the nut slots were a bit too tight for the strings I was using, also from what I could work out, the Sitar Buzzing seemed to be caused by the way the string sat on the bottom of the nut slots, plus, some of the strings have a very slight sideways kink to them on their way to the tuners.

I did some experimenting with the position of the B and E string-tree before installing it, moving it towards the nut or away from it varied the break-angle over the nut but didn't do anything to fix the Sitar-buzzing, it wasn't due to the string slots being cut too deep because I checked by fretting the string behind the first fret, the Sitar-Buzzing stopped, indicating it definitely was caused by the nut.

I might just leave the guitar for a while so I can have a good long hard think about installing a Floyd Rose Trem on it, I can still play my LP Studio in the meantime.

I might get a Gold Schaller Lockmeister Floyd Rose Trem for my Strat, they're a bit more expensive than the Chrome version but I reckon I can get a budget together for it, the Gold Lockmeister Floyd Rose Trem comes with all the mounting hardware needed and also a matching Schaller R2 Locking Nut, which does fit my Strat's neck, here's a pic of the Gold Schaller Lockmeister:
