You have a lot of options for the grounding (earth) wire. You can go through one of the post holes, either from the top or the bottom. Or, since you'll have such a good, tight connection between the bridge and body you could do it like you would on a fender-style bridge. Id run it into the bridge pickup route or the control cavity route, whichever is closest.

As to the slowest build... You're not even close ;-) Even if it were, it's not a race--you get full points for any project you finish! And a few bonus points for innovating as you've done here ;-)

I am not sure why we don't see more bridges bolted on from the back. It seems like a great way of making the connection very solid, particularly on a bass or a 12 string or axes with high string tension.
