On a solid body this would be the simplest and cheapest way to do it if one has a router. It's a simple shape. I would be a little Leary of doing it on a semi-hollow. Not sure how it would be with a Tele thinline, but with other kit semi-hollows that center block is not much wider than the post holes...and sometimes even the post holes break through.
