The beauty of the home studio is you are not time constrained, imagine the cost of having to do 20 takes or punch ins in a 4 minute song, a few flubbed vocal or guitar lines and the clock spins.
The records I've done professionally have always been a set price, but I have done sessions by-the-hour too, and it only adds to the pressure and anxiety.
