I have to admit the camera is being kind here as there are still some imperfections that wouldn’t stand up to close scrutiny but overall I’m much happier with the finish. I may keep going or accept those blemishes as character, I’ll decide ahead of glueing the neck...
Meanwhile I’m keen to get the fretboard looking a bit more yellowy and have been experimenting with mixing some of the leftover DT gold with a little butterscotch left over from my first build. I’ve applied a very light coat and plan to finish with Tru-Oil. Once all the topside of the guitar is done I’ll glue the neck, then finish the back with DT Karijini Red, hoping for a nice deep tone with not too much shine...
