So it’s been a while between postings......
I thought I’d go against the grain on this one so to speak and install neck before finishing. Reason being I want to make sure it’s a good a fit as possible then remove the step between body and neck heel on the sides. It will be a royal PITA to finish but anyhow....
The kit bridge / drilled posts were about 1/2 cm too long for correct intonation. However with a GFS bridge intonation is spot on.
I’ve used stock tuners and happy to report they feel more stable than same style Klusons I have on my ES5V build.
Frets have been leveled & dressed and for testing purposes the plastic nut has been filed for correct string gauge/string height. The neck straightened with no issues.
And sides of neck joint on body profiled to remove the step. The neck pocket has full contact on all sides and I used a veneer to fill a small gap at the end.
Next job to carve out the SG Jnr curves and contours.
As it is it plays like a dream and acoustically loud which is a good sign.
