Most upgrade pots have a larger thread diameter that requires existing control plate holes to be enlarged. Best done with drill in reverse so that the drill bit does not bite or grab the control plate and make a mess of things.
As the metal is quite hard it will heat up and this method does take a bit longer but safer in the end.
