I put tonerider vintage pups in my ST-1 with a bone nut, they sound excellent.

Awesome. The toneriders have good reviews. For the price they see like a great choice

Yeah they are bunge, I looked at a number of others being on a budget I went with toneriders. They are really good for the price too. My other strat has wilkinsons and they sound sweet too but certainly different. The vintage toneriders have some character about their sound and tone which I love, but the wilkinsons sound a bit more polished.

I thought I would mention, that thanks to Wokks telling me I should have two builds on the go while I'm waiting for the dingotone to cure and you posting about the TLA-1R, I've decided that the wife's going to get me a TLA-1R for my birthday. She'll find out tomorrow, on my birthday, that out shopping trip only requires getting on the computer. ha ha. GAS at its best.

Ha ha. Love it! That's alright. I just bought myself some Forstner bits as a late xmas pressie!

Needed one to countersink the string through ferrules.

Far from perfect. But happy with the result with my limited tools and knowledge. I think a drill press would be the best way to do this in the future.

Finally got to do a full mock build. Pretty happy with how it has turned out.

Quick question, does anyone know if I will need more room for the tone riders, I don't want to start the finishing if I have to may the pup holes bigger.

hey Ben great job on the string through. Mock build looks great. So did you end up getting about 317mm 12th fret to low E saddle ?
The Tonerider pups are about the same size as the stock pups so you shouldn't need any modifications to the cavities.
Nice to see a beer on the workbench, looks like a 4D workbench haha

@ Andy40 no worries for giving you ideas for more kits, you have the building bug now !

Thats correct about the drill press...but then you did a better job than most without it!

With the longer PBG bridge saddle bolts I will get about 320mm, maybe 317mm. Right now they're 323mm from the 12th.

Now it's time to take it apart and get stuck into the finishing.

Grain filling the body. I am still in-decided on the finish. I was thinking about translucent butterscotch but not sure the grain is exciting enough.

    Might do a solid colour.

I think the grain is prefect for a trans color! But I'm really into natural finishes right now so who knows haha
