I'm still seeing gluing in a piece of dowel that'll be about 11.5 mm diameter then dilling it straight in the centre with 11mm as being a pretty risky avenue vs just using the posts the holes were originally intended for. Once the post bit into the quarter millimeter of dowel and glue that would be left it doesn't seem like that makes for a firm base.

I might need to do a dry run on some other wood to be convinced.

You could try gluing a strip of veneer in there, but if the kit bushings fit use them.

In more cheerful build progression, the neck gap block has been timbermated and sanded.

And the alternate concentric pots and knobs (suggested by WierdBits who kindly demoed their installation on a 6mm fascia) have arrived. This means adding one more hole to the control area and there'll be a 3 pos switch and two vol/tone pair pots.

Then some contraption to hang it out in the shed and I can begin the spray.

The neck heel looks a lot neater, nice transition.

Just need to remember to install the strap pin back from the edge so it is not pulling on the glued in section. Just to be cautious.

Drilled the holes for the controls.



Switch for neck (up), both, bridge - then tone (top) and vol for neck - then tone and vol for bridge.


The allparts switch 5/16" thread is a fraction too short so I expect to get the switchcraft version which has 11/32" thread. Might still get to use the black washer and nut.

I'm spraying it "Arctic White".

Next step is sealer/primer. About to go do a coat of that if I've still got enough daylight left in the shed.

Few coats of that, then the Arctic White nitro. There, I said it.

Black knobs, black gotoh bridge, black tuners (looking at the gotoh locking ones).

If I put a pickguard on it, might end up with a clear one.

Yes it is, but the choice of guitar was for lots of real estate. I'm not finished with it once the white is on it.
