    Wiring a 5-way mod in a telecaster

    Hey all,

It's time for my new project: a midnight sparkling tele.
For the PU wiring I was thinking of this mod:

    Just a few questions:
    1. I'm gonna use noiseless pickups, so 5 wire PU's, do I just solder the start wires together and the end wire too?
    2. I'm using a 5-way import switch, how would the connection to the switch be then?

    3. For a treble bleed, I just add a 100k cap to the .022 cap?

Thank you so much already for your input
    Cheers

    1) What brand of pickups are you using?

    2) see below

    3) Treble bleeds go in series on the volume pot (soldered between "in" and "out" lugs, IYKWIM)
Cap and resistor values are all personal preference. It can be done with a cap only, or cap/resistor series/parallel configuration. Too many to list here (actually I'm just being lazy). Lots of good info online. Just research a bit.

I was thinking of this Asian one to start with: a stacked noiseless PU

Ok, so with that one, the coil finish wires (red & white) are pre-soldered. You'll want to insulate those with heat-shrink or electrical tape so they don't cause a short against any other parts of the circuit. Then just solder the green & bare to ground, and the black will be your positive signal wire (hot).

My only other comment is to make sure you have enough depth in your pickup cavities. Those are stacked humbucker and generally quite a bit taller than standard single coils. Sometimes there is enough clearance once the pickup height is adjusted, but not always, and can require routing the cavity deeper.

    Thank you!

Indeed, the PU cavity needs a check before ordering. Will do so.
