    1 Humbucker, 1 Tone?

    Hello everyone, I'm back.

Ive been working on a project converting an Artist Strat copy into a 1 Humbucker, 1 Volume punk machine. I've got all the parts but I haven't wired it up yet because I had a question.

Is it possible to wire just a tone pot (no volume) to the humbucker, if so how would one go about doing this?

This is a strange question but I find that the only knob I actually mess with on my other guitars is the tone, my volume is always max because I like the edge that it gives.
    The name says it all!

Thanks heaps for giving me a diagram for this, that would have been my next question.

The pickup I have is a DiMarzio humbucker from hell that has four wires and a ground instead of two, am I correct in assuming that I solder the black and white wires together?

    DiMarzio should be:
    Red +
    Black & White link together
    Green & Bare -

Don't the black and white wires come presoldered?

+ the black and white solder join will need to be insulated (with electrical tape or similar) to ensure it cannot become grounded.

Not on DiMarzios. Toneriders (which use the same wire colours) do. DiMarzio instructions say to solder the black and white wires together and insulate the join.

I tend to keep the controls on my guitars pretty simple, one control wiring system that I find really works for me is a system that consists of a master volume and master tone control, on my Steinberger guitar I have a 500k A volume control and a 500k A tone control with a .047uF (47nF) tone cap, the pickup switch is a 5-position type.
