    Timber Suppliers Australia

With a few scratch builds going on at the moment I thought it'd be good to create a thread with up to date places to get timber here in Australia. I'll start with a few that I know of (but haven't necessarily dealt with), feel free to add to the list.

    Guitar Timbers Australia (https://guitartimbers.com)
    Tasmanian Tonewoods (https://tasmaniantonewoods.com)
    Australian Luthier Supplies (https://luthiersupplies.com.au)
    Kirby Fine Timber (https://kirbyfinetimber.com.au)
    Australian Tonewoods (http://www.australiantonewoods.com)
    Tasmanian Salvaged Resurrection Timbers (http://www.tasmaniantimbers.com)
    Guitar Woods (http://guitarwoods.com.au)
    Southern Tonewoods (http://southerntonewoods.com.au)
    GuitarAust (https://www.guitaraust.com.au)
    Trend Timbers (http://www.trendtimbers.com.au)
    Loggerheads (https://loggerheads.com.au)

Local hardware stores may have suitable timber as well.
And obviously if you are doing semi-scratch builds then it goes without saying to check out Adam's collection of necks on the pitbull website.

Great thread. Mind you, I can't look at any of those sites without wanting to spend all the money.

I specifcally avoid driving through Marrickville as magically, I seem to end up at Anagote Timbers with my wallet out.

Hand crafting guitars, because Death Rays are expensive.

Yeh Thors have just moved and opened at a new site. I've been meaning to go and have a look at what they have and see if there is anything useful.

Kuanjb have you done any scratch guitar stuff?

Not as yet.... but you know, I have plans. I'm interested in use of sustainable timber use and Australian timbers which you don't see very often in guitars. So Thor's ticks the boxes.

Need to go my woodworking skills and have a better setup at home before attempting any of that though. I did go out to Monaro timber a few months back to a see what they had. I'm planning on doing a wood pickguard on the JM build.

I don't have some of the required tools either but have joined the ACT Woodcraft Guild who have a specific instrument makers group that meets once a fortnight and the guild have all the tools you'd need if that interests you. Also quite a lot of knowledge there.

Did Monaro have a reasonable selection?

Fortunately I don't get to Sydney too often so it'll be a while before they take too much of my money haha
