    Greetings from Colorado

Hi all - I'm in Colorado Springs and doing my first guitar build (DIB-1F). Seems that I've already messed up...posted some questions in the Welcome forum (wrong location), and also drilled through the back of the body because I thought my drill bit was angled properly (and should have bought a longer bit to begin with before trying to drill into the bridge pickup cavity).

But...that's why I'm doing this build, to learn!

I'll have to get some progress pictures loaded; currently I'm perplexed on the wiring.

    Thanks for having me.

    Hi and welcome cincotta99,

I have learnt a lot from my builds also. I have also made lots of mistakes - but as others have said mistakes are just learning experiences.

Get a build diary going, post lots of pictures and ask lots of questions.

    Have fun.

    Welcome!
I used to have family that lived in Larkspur many years ago.

As Trevor said, we learn by doing, and that includes the stuff-ups (mistakes in Aussie terms!).

I've been working on guitars for nearly 20 years, but only started doing builds about 5 years ago. I'm still learning and striving for that perfect build!

The good news is, if you drilled through the back, it can be fixed up so only you'd know about it. Especially if you choose to go with a solid paint colour on the back. Let us know (in your Build Diary ) what the plan in your head is, and I'm sure the collective brains trust here can help you through it!

So far so good. Nothing that a little paint won't cover. I often wonder what sorts of mistakes you'd find if you took a look under the paint on commercially made guitars....

Folks are helpful here and take a pretty gentile approach to answering even the dumbest question. I am sure. I have been testing this.

It is truly amazing what problems and mistakes can be fixed with a bit of ingenuity and some decent advice.
