So, finally got my hands on this five string bass kit. Wanted a fairly simple paint job compaired with previous builds. Decided on something similar to the Surf green look, but also wanted a bit of the grain to show thru.. looking pretty good.
Decided to attempt the split coil thing. So each humbucker will have a volume, tone and split switch. The splits will be reversed, so each split humbucker should cancel the hum in the other if not off. Well, that's the theory anyway.
The shaping was fairly standard, just rounded the horn a bit more, made it less triangular so it's more comfortable to pick up
Painting proceeded pretty well, about 3 coats of white primer, then multiple coats of green. Oiled the fingerboard and back of the neck.
Painting in the heat of the summer definitely makes a lot more sense.
