I wouldn't call that caveman. I'd call it very practical or resourceful.Mine was way more caveman...
I'll bet you had everything on hand and it didn't require even one trip to the hardware store!

I am experiencing a long delay in putting the clear coat on my Telestrat. My wife believes that tidying up the garage is actually a higher priority. I also want to be able to work with the Garage door open so that the fumes are not sucked into the house by the AC unit. Also, finishing makes me nervous.
As I mulled it over, I also found a little hardware, some framing material and some shelving material (I was cleaning out the garage...). So I decided to mod my rotisserie a bit. I made it taller attached it to a piece of shelving, and added a built-in clamp. This will allow me to store it on a shelf between coats...
Here's a pic of how it will fit on the shelf in my garage next to my McCreed-esque neck painting jig. You can also see my neck flipping stick...which I have, of course, modded by putting a better cap on it. Cap is, of course, made with more crap I found while cleaning out the garage...
I believe this is proof positive that I can put off pretty much anything.
Procrastination as a productivity aid. It's amazing how much you can get done while trying to avoid doing one particular thing!

Mantra: No more pedals, must finish BlueyCaster...
Disclaimer: I haven't done woodwork since high school, and wasn't really paying attention at the time ...
Good one fender3x.
2 Q's: How is it fixed to your bench, and what is that doovalacky on the front of the shelf in pic #3? (it's got a cupboard knob on it)
Well put jugglindan!
The other side to that is the "5 minute job" that metamorphosises into three one hour jobs!

It's attached to the shelf with some recessed dry wall screws on the bottom of the shelf. I can attach the shelf to a work bench, or just set it on top of a bench or table. Any drips will fall on the shelf rather than on the table with hand applied finish. Same with the neck jig.
Ah, yes. I remember that now.I believe that is his flipping stick, V3.0?
Wasn't there a song about that?
"Hit with your flippin' stick... hit me... hit me..."
