Here's the ES335 kit I've started. It's my first build. Sanded and base coat.
Would appreciate feedback, I would like the contrast to be a little bolder any advice?

Hey, Chris. Welcome.
To get better contrast, apply a darker wash stain (like a Feast Watson product), sand back lightly, and then apply your desired colour coats over the top.

Hi Chris,
It depends on what kind of finish you are using. For Colortone (water based) dye I have found this technique from Bill at Canadianbreed guitars to produce good results as an alternative to the dye and sand-back proposed by Brodie.

Not to take away from Brodie's suggestion! This technique is good for those who don't want to (or can't) sand back.
cheers,
Gav.

Hey guys, thanks for the advice.
I've done a stack of mods but never a build, so all info is appreciated.
What do you finish necks in? My fav neck to play is a Maple finished natural but paint doesn't big me too much.
Thanks again,
Reg
True Oil for necks, unless you can get DB to part with some DingoTone....

Thanks Gavin.
