    1st Time build for Telecaster

Setting up my Build Diary, I think this is a great idea! I expect going to need quite a bit of help along the journey, but looking forward to it. Got this as a present out of the blue so have not done much research yet. Still trying to work out what Finish I want! I have started to look through the Forums and very impressed what people have done. Taken my first step and done a Mock up, looks like I have everything I need in the kit.

    Cheers

Yes, measure from the fretboard side of the nut to the high e saddle to ensure that you can get 648 mm scale length for the high e. You do not need strings. There is lots of room for adjustment with the tele style barrel saddles - so should not be a problem.

    Starting to Sand

Starting to sand body and have highlighted some marks, not sure if keep going to see if I can remove? Not sure if it will sand out, did clean it up a bit but appears to be quite deep.

Also another question In the Instruction manual early thing to do is to do a test fitting with the Neck, am a little concerned about installing the Bridge. Do I give it a go before I get too much further to preparing the finish of the guitar?

When I have questions do I start a new Thread or just keep this one going. As well as not knowning much about building guitars not very good with this online stuff, any guides I can follow?

Starting a new thread for questions is often a quicker way to get a response, but you can put them in your build diary as well.

You may be able to remove small dents. I do it with a washcloth or towel and a clothes iron. Others are more surgical, and do it with a soldering iron and a cloth.

Put a drop or two of water on the dent, or you can just dampen a corner of the towel/washcloth. Put the damp cloth on the dent and the iron on top of that. I have found it almost magical how well this can work to remove the dent. At least worth a try before doing something more invasive or difficult.

I am not sure if it is a glue mark or a ding. Can you post a closer pic?

You can post your questions in your build diary

Good point! I was assuming that it was a dent...but it could be something else!
