    Bone Nut upgrade

Any advice on removing the stock nut to install the bone nut upgrade? I don’t want to cause any unnecessary damage. Thanks!

    Hi Guthriecb,

Is it a G style or F style guitar?

Either way, most folks suggest running a craft knife along the sides, where it joins the fretboard, to weaken the glue joints. They then use pliers to pull it away after they have weakened the joins.

For a G style, I use a small block of 4 x 2 resting on the fretboard against the nut, and tap the block with a hammer to gently knock it away from the fretboard. It does not require much force.

For F style, same idea, but I tap it from both fretboard side, alternated with headstock side of the nut.
