I have decided to get another build going while the weather is too cold for spraying the FH-5V.
I have managed to get hold of a DMS-1 body in mahogany and a short scale (24") maple neck with a rosewood fretboard. I did not get the matching hardware pack. My intention is to convert it into a mustang style.
I have a mustang tremolo and bridge on order, as well as a pearloid pickguard and control plate.
My intention is to try a candy red pearl using phrozin's notes.

I really liked the three way switches that Tim used on Strat. Maybe see if he can source some others?

Most of the ones I can fine are 3, 2 position switches. If I am wrong about that and he's got a two position that would be even better (for me), since that's what I have been looking for ;-)
I have completed some neck work today:
Cut the headstock shape with a jigsaw, bench sanded to shape, and hand sanded to 240g.
Shaped the foot of the neck to match the neck pocket shape on the body.
Added a stamped "serial number" to the back of the headstock and filled with ebony timbermate.
Also filed the fret ends.

Headstock looks really good! Serial number's a little hard to read ;-)
I don't know why I never thought of using pegs as you have to stabilize the template, but that's a great idea.
Is the body mahogany? How are you thinking of finishing it?

I have now sanded the serial number, which makes it a bit nicer!
This one has a mahogany body - but it was old misc' stock from PBG! As for the finish, I want to try phrozin's rattlecan acrylic method using the candy red pearl colour.

.... so how did you shape the foot of the neck - sandpaper?
+1 for the use of pegs to steady the headstock template... seems so obvious once I noticed it!
