    IB-5 Low Output Volume

    Hi People

Just finished the IB5 with twin humbuggers about 13k ohms each. Plays and sounds great however, compared with my P-Bass with similar impedance pickup, the IB-5 is quite a bit less volume, all other things being equal.

I have no experience with Bass Humbuckers. Does this seem correct to be so down on output. I have raised the pickups to be fairly close to the things.

    Cheers

    Steve W.

    Hi swinnall,

I'm not sure if this is correct or not. A few thoughts:

Often the kit strings result in a low output - are you using the kit ones?
Are you using the kit humbuckers?

Yes using kit strings and Humbuckers

I know this may sound a bit left of field, and Simon will no doubt correct me, but if you are comparing impedance, wouldn't you expect to get get more output from a single coil? I'd be guessing being spread across two coils would reduce the output. I'm sure Simon will give us a lecture about coils in series and parallel, and Ohm's law will rear it's ugly head....

New strings did the trick - many
    thanks.

Thanks. I have the same problem with my YB-4. Sounds like proper strings are the solution
