This is my first build and I'm in over my head already.
Okay here goes, Are the pickups the same and can they go in either space?
Do the springs go under the pickups, to raise and lower the pickups?
If I can get these answered it should get me going some
The pickups 2/3 can go in either spot A or B?

The pickups are not the same. One (your #2 I think) is bigger than the other. The bigger one is the bridge pup and will go into the route B. It is bigger to account for the strings fanning out as they go from the nut to the bridge. Also, you may find only the smaller pup will fit into the recess of the pickguard! (The two pups are different in terms of the amount of wire inside which will affect the signals produced).
Yes, The springs do go under the pups to keep them raised above the base of the route cavity.
