    New Member ST-1L build

    Old bloke building a ST-1L
Have started on neck sanded and 6 coats Truoil with pleasing finish.

Have been checking out instruction videos and re the STL-1 wiring video it shows the yellow earth to bridge
and two black wires to jack however my plate has two black wires off the same point on the pot so my question is
how do I find which one is earth and which is live.
Asking in anticipation as while before I reach this point.

    Thanks

    Hi and welcome Peter Smith.

I'm also doing some tele necks with tru-oil - I have stopped after 12 coats.

As far as the wires go:
The two black wires are ground wires (which are soldered to the back of a pot) - one will be for the bridge ground with connects (is soldered) to the trem claw. The other ground goes to the jack ground (inner sleeve).

The live (hot) wire will be soldered to the middle lug of the volume pot. Hopefully that wire is there! The colour does not matter!

    I hope this helps.

P.S. Hopefully you will start a build diary to show your progress!

Cheers for that actually makes sense now two black off pot live and yellow earth.
You have now made me wonder whether 6 coats are enough .
