Attachment 27819Attachment 27820Attachment 27821 the full scale plans turned up today from australian luthier supplies and got a couple of body blanks glued together, its exciting and nerve wracking at the same time
Looks like 3 body sized blanks being glued up?
watching with interest! I'm still a few machines short of tackling a scratchy ( thicknesser for 1) but I know if I ever want that Gretch Jupiter Thunderbird I'll have to build my own
Ive got one Only problem is its only 320 wide doh
I dunno, could be worth a request.
I'd probably get one if they were readily available.
I wore out this album and none of my peers seemed to like it back then.
Now of course it's a 'cult classic'.

cheers, Mark.
Wow, never thought I’d see Bo dressed like an S&M fetishist....
Attachment 27890 the first routing template
You still going for a semi-hollow SG, Adam?
Attachment 27956 Attachment 27957 first slab flattened out with the router, atill got 3mm to take of the other side. Adam was kind enough to sell me a maple neck with an ebony fretboard that was left over of a damaged kit, thanks Adam.

Ive had a bit of fun today
getting the body blanks chambered and glued together
Are you building 2 Adam?
I hope the blanks glue together OK. You really need a lot more clamps to do it really well and get a lot of pressure over the whole area.
This is fully sick. I am loving how this is going.
Yes waz, one ive got a pitbull maple neck with an ebony fretboard the other im going to attempt to make my own out of some of the mahogany and i got a nice peice of bluegum to try a fretboard. I know Simon id already glued it up then realised the rest of my cramps were in the work trailer, seems to be all held together so far wont know till i start shaping
Attachment 28460 some gear turned up over the weekend, trussrod for the neck i got 2 it wasnt much dearer for 2 than 1, some mediun fret wire, and 2 dirty finger pickups, one for each guitar I'm thinking about only ane pickup and using a on/on switch to coil split just for something different.
watching with interest

Attachment 28596Attachment 28597 next job is shape and raduis, not sure what to do about inlays
Attachment 28638 1st neck blank with scarf joint glued together
Attachment 28650Attachment 28651Attachment 28652 body is shaped up needs a lot af finish sanding, glue joint seems to have come up nice and tight. So far all good
I’m really enjoying watching this. Keep the pics coming.
Thanks sonic
Lookin' great Adam
Attachment 28670 Attachment 28671 a bit of shaping with the bastard file
That's looking real nice so far
Attachment 28688 trussrod grooved out
Attachment 28689 neck roughly cut out
Attachment 28692 fretboard shaped, question for anyone who has done this before, most videos show radiusing and fretting before gluing to the neck. Can i glue the fretboard on before and radiusing and fretting in place
B&G definitely glue their fret board to the neck before radius-ing and fretting. They have some unreal videos on facebook which give some insight into how they do things. They have a jig which holds the neck straight against a linisher and then it's swung in an arc to get the right radius on it. I'll see if I can find a you tube link.
HI Adam, On the three necks i have made so far and one reboard, I have slotted the board, and mounted it before adding a radius and fretting. It shouldn't create a great issue doing it that way, just have to be sure you are bang on centering it as you glue and clamp it.
