How do I post pictures? I have hollow body a GR-1SF and cannot identify a couple of parts. Also noticed the wiring diagram recommended seems different from the wiring supplied.

Welcome to the crazy GAS ranch, Chaz :)
To post pics, go to the Go Advanced tab, scroll down and you will see the upload pics tab.
You will need to resize pics to 1000x 1000 for them to upload successfully
Oh, the wireing diagram should match up with supplied bitz..
When you get the pic posting sorted out, take a few happy snaps and our wireing gurus will soon sort it out.
Welcome to the forum Chaz. Upload pics of parts you are unsure of. Good luck with the build
Cant identify what this is for

This is the wiring diagram recommended for my model but my wiring is a lot different
Attachment 6437
And here is my model. this is a first for me. Have only ever done one solid guitar before with all wiring ready soldered.
Attachment 6436
OK.
First pic is the support for the pick guard. Personally I reckon these Guitars look nicer without it :p
With the wires supplied, ignore the colours and simply use the lengths of wire that reach.
Lucky you! You scored an extra Green Cap Capacitor!
Hope that helps.
Please start a build diary in my build diary section, we all love seeing how peeps builds are going :)
Thanks for the info. If I can find the build diary section Ill start one
Welcome Chaz! Enjoy the kit dude it looks like a great one.
cheers,
Gav.
Well have managed to get some work done on the guitar. Attachment 8564First thing was to get rid of the mouse ears. I decided to keep it to a simple cut as I don't have a steady hand anymore or a band saw.
Next after years of sanding was two coats of orange stain for the body.Attachment 8566
And black for the neck Attachment 8565I didn't intend the neck to stay black I had other ideas in mind.
Hi Chaz and welcome
it looks like some glue on the top of that F hole?
I sanded the neck down again and then stained with orange. Then came the Tung Oil, eight coats. But I didn't like the sheen it gave so I switched to Tru Oil which gave a better shine. And the effect on the neck was just what I was looking for. Attachment 8567Attachment 8568
I didn't like the black scratch guard or truss cover so I purchased some stuff and made my own. Added a decal to the scratch plate and the neck and things are starting to look okay Attachment 8569
Attachment 8570
The bees and paraffin wax arrived today so Ill be doing the pots and then starting the wiring. I decided to bin the supplied wiring and go for silver braided shield, Cloth covered wire which will help to reduce hum. A friend of mind said if the bees wax stops humming does it produce Buzzing!!!
Racing through this build Chaz. Looking good.
this is coming along really nicely Chaz, it's got a real vintage look to it
Yes real problem. Tried sanding but it wouldn't go away. I was afraid of going to far and sanding through the binding and the body. So I'm happy with the way it turned out. The odd blemish gives the vintage look.😊😊
Hey Chaz, welcome and some very nice work.
For the build diary section go to the to of the page
Go to forum tab, go to the section titled exhibition centre , about the second one down
At the bottom of that section is the build diary section, start one there
Well, done the wiring only to find when I fitted it all into the guitar
1 the threads on the jack socket are not deep enough to put the nut on.
2 the pickup wire is too short to reach the pots.
So, can I extend the wire on each pickup or do I have to somehow re wire the pickups?
I guess my real question is why are the wires too short? Quality control??

No worries with soldering some wire the the pup wires, just use some heat shrink to insulate each wire.
With the output jack, it sounds like you might have an extra thick top... Easiest work around is to source another jack with a longer thread...
If you like, I can have a search of suppliers in GB to see whats available.
Are both pickup leads too short? The neck pup lead is usually longer than the bridge as it has a longer run to the controls.
My other question is. Is there any difference between the two pickups apart from one has a yellow wire and one a red wire.
Really could have done with some good instructions for this model of guitar. The one supplied is for solid guitsrs
The yellow lead is 28cm and the distance from the pot to the pickup hole is 30cm . the pickup with the red wire just fits.
Thanks I'll try joining some extra wire with solder. I'll check out the suppliers for a jack. Which by the way fits on the side not the top.
Well did the wiring which was very new to me. but hey, got to learn sometime. Made a mistake of not including the pickups in the template I made. Just assumed the cables would be the right length. So although I did manage to fit the wiring loom into the guitar using the 6mm plastic tubing (Great idea whoever thought of that one), I have had to remove it in order to lengthen the pickup wires.
Attachment 8787
Attachment 8789Attachment 8788Fitted the machine heads and although I pre drilled the screw holes found the screws to be quite long, so had to be very careful not to drill too deep. As a result the first screw head snapped off. So now have to drill the screw out of the hole and try again. still its starting to take shape.
Bummer about the screw.. Is there any of the shaft poking out? If there is you can try grabbing it with pliers.
Another trick is to see if you can file a slot in it and use a flat bladed screw driver.
Another handy tip is to smear a little bit of soap on the screw thread before driving it, that should help stop shearing the head off the pesky little buggers.
Drilled the screw out. I measured the depth of the screw and depth of the headstock. Both are 12mm. So I'll be getting slightly shorter screws. I take your point about a bit of soap good idea
Screws sorted. Wiring complete but a question. In order to wax the pickups I removed the black covers that are screwed to the guitar. I failed to notice until assembling them that one cover is thicker than the other. Any idea which one is neck and which one is body. They are also angled so which way round do they go?
The pickup surrounds one will be higher than the other? this one goes to the bridge, the thinner one to the neck.
Many thanks. Both surrounds have a high and a low side, again which way round do they go? I would guess the higher side of both pickups faces the neck.
Low side to the nut high side to the bridge.
Great thanks for your help
Anytime, no problem.

Build almost finish. Just to fit a good set of strings then get the neck set up.
So build finished. The neck was quite easy to set up. The intonation only needed a small adjustment. Very pleased with it just got to get used to the slightly narrower neck. I normally play a guild acoustic. It sounds great.
Thanks pitbull for a lovely box.
Attachment 9354 looking good. Not pufect but good enough for me.
Attachment 9355 made my own cover.
Attachment 9356 and scratch plate
Nice job well done
Looks great Chaz, the truss rod cover and pick guard are a nice touch!
Very nice good job
