Hey guys,
finished this awhile ago.
Body: Ash strat
Neck: Used an old neck lying around
Inlays: Upgraded to abalone dots
Wood stain: White acrylic paint - we diluted it slightly with water (they only cost $2.50!, but results were amazing!)
Here's how it looked like after sanding the body down and staining it with many coats of the white paint.
And here's what it looked like after spraying numerous coats of acrylic lacquer.
And... it looked really gorgeous after wet sanding with 1200, 1500 and 2000 grit
and buffing it up with MeGuiar's 105 and 205.
Just look at the reflection of the tree outside our balcony!

finish is superb, and looks real classy with the tort pick guard and gold bits

Thanks for the comments guys. The figure isn't as spectacular compared to others but I'm glad it turned out well. Grain filling was a pain too.

Hey Swinging beef, I basically used cheap acrylic paint from the dollar store and diluted it with water and stained it like you normally would. But beware of the amount of water you use because you can raise a significant amount of grain in the process. I then sprayed a couple of clear coats and then grain filled with timbermate. The grain of the body wasn't too spectacular to see much figuring. I then used about 3 cans of clear coats and buffed it out.Quote:
