I just took delivery of the Mosrite Ventures II axe and am very happy with the neck fit is tight as and can't see any obvious glue or filling.
So will start sanding over the next few days and experimenting with white paints.
Thanks Gav T for making the special order and thanks Ads for ordering a spare one of these kits. Can't wait to see how it looks with a coat of white paint.
Planning to upgrade the pickups too

Woohooo! Hey Ho Let's Go Wokka - she's gonna be a great build of a very rare model. I'm hoping you'll be as happy with yours as I am becoming of mine. Gabba Gabba Hey!
cheers,
Gav.
-
cheer fellas, its always exciting to build a new model of a rare axe as Gav says. Ads even wrote hey ho lets go on the receipt !
Interested to hear what white paint you are using Gav as you are already well underway your build
-
Good luck catching up to Gav with this one Wokka. Amazing what he's got done in a few days.
-
@ Pablo I won't be rushing this build, and only really get a chance to spray paint on weekends with the winter weather. I got enough other current builds to keep me busy !
-
finally got off my backside on this project and finished sanding, got a primer coat on and yesterday 1st topcoat on the body
Got a blackheart sassafras veneer on the headstock and happy how it looks. The grain goes pretty well with the headstock shape. Bit more shaping and sanding of the neck.
Of course some wet sanding to do on the body

Nice cricket bat, Woks ;)
-
haha cheers DB, don't tell me this model axe is in your list of cricket bats ? It's a pretty long list mate !
-
Nah, just yanking ya chain, Woks :)
-
haha you tend to be doing it more often these days DB, I thought it may have been a cricket bat as its got solid paint on the body !
-
Love that veneer on the headstock. Such a beast of a guitar, just screams to be played hard and fast.
-
Great work Wokka. That veneer on the headstock is awesome! She's really coming together now. What are you going to use for clear coats?
cheers,
Gav.
-
Cheers Gav and Looney.
At this stage clear coats will be polyurethane with a paint gun so more time in the naughty room
-
What do ya mean, more time in the naughty room?
You are a permanent resident, Woks.... i mean, who else could we find to serve up the excellent beers that you always provide? :)
-
haha yer DB I've accepted the fact that I'm basically staff in the naughty room !
We just need to negotiate a salary
-
Enterprise bargaining in the Naughty Room, eh? If nothing else, there's usually a nosh up at these sort of things. Count me in!
-
been a while since I worked on this, got a wet sand done and 3rd colour coat on with his pal the scratch SGV.
Hopefully one or 2 more coats and should be ready for clear coats

-
finally got off my but and wet sanded the Mossy and the SGV, best to shoot a coat at the same time. It was late in the afternoon so I'll get some better pics. At this stage maybe one more white coat then clears, will see how it cures
