This just blows my mind
So received the Duesenberg wraparound this week and will work a treat in regards to the width but have to reduce the hole size to suit the smaller post ferules (9mm).
Now just need to work out how to paint it black.
Off the hook. Completely off the hook. You are giving me so many wild eyed ideas beyond my pay grade and skill set that it's just not funny.
Wonderful work!
Noice werk Vh, veeeeery noice.
My side light fibreoptic cord turned up and is a lot more flexible than the standard so was able to bend easily. Puttied the cord into the top part of the guitar and once dry wound the second strand into the fretboard and taped in place.
then glued the fretboard on. Cut the replacement veneer and put a small slot so that I could pull the cord out so it wont be damaged during gluing. Now waiting for neck to dry so I have a clamp or two to fit the veneer.
Now that fretboard is on, did a quick light test. Using the fretlight setup just held the two cores in the light source and checked how well the inlays lit up. A little underwhelming but only did a real quick sand and polish (10secs) of the ends of the fibres so with better polishing may improve the light source a bit. Also the alignment of the cords to the diode will be better once setup properly. Might drop into Jaycar on weekend and see if can swap out to higher lumen diode.
Will definitely need to thin the MOP a fair bit to get any of the light-source to come through.
