Hey Doc, the distortion is one of the pre-programmed channels on my Fender Mustang IV digital amp head running through a Marshall quad box. It's pretty cool you can change to any amp head/cabinet combo

That's a pretty cool setup, I've got a Marshall MA100C 100W 2X12 all valve combo amp that a mate of mine is doing some servicing work on to get it to stop randomly blowing fuses, I have two other amps but they are at uni, I just recently found my Korg Pandora PX5D and have been playing my Les Paul and SG through it.
I'm going to be buying myself an Eleven Rack next year.
Did you have to plane the top down to get the thickness right? Or was the veneer super thin?

I have some flamed koa I want to use but not sure how to go about it yet

Hi Jbird, the veneer was already cut thin, was about 0.8mm thick from memory. I ran the top of the guitar body through DB's thicknesser to get it nice and flat.
How thick is the flamed koa ?
Wokaboy,
I've seen guys on the inter web use a bag of gravel instead of clamps when they are gluing on the veneer top.
Is the bag' gravel technique useful or a crock?
Hi Bruce,
sure a bag of gravel could work, as long as there is even pressure over the veneer and enough to hold it flat. Next time I might try some brick pavers in the centre and clamps on the edges
Might be time to invest in one of those vaccum bag thingys.
Heard of a lot of guys using them with great success.
Apparently they are using the domestic ones with great results.
sounds good DB I'll try it next veneer I apply to a body.
I think the theory of the bag'o gravel technique is that the 20 odd kilos of weight settles evenly over the top because the particles in the bag can mold over the top evenly ???
I am making the assumption that the gravel is the aquarium type, would sand do the same thing?
