Rough sanded back, the DIY filler worked ok around the dowel. Looks like I can get away with hiding this under the truss rod cover. I'm feeling a lot better about this fix now.

nice fix Andrew, the dowel is covered and the truss rod cover will suit this build really well.
Up and onwards now !
good job Andrew!
Great fix Andrew! The headstock looks good as new.
cheers,
Gav.
Cheers guys. This had me sweating for a bit but hey, have learned a new skill in the process! Should get my decal just as the head-stock is ready for it!
Nice work, a lesson in how to come back from adversity!
Nice save man, it came out really tidy. Looking good!
Very tidy, Andrew. I swear some screws just break like it was what they were designed to do, what a pain.
Soldering complete. Plugged into amplification and it all seems to be working..
That's the bottom end done. Maybe I should keep this as a one string Djent guitar?
Time to wrap up the headstock then a quick cut and polish
Nice fix Andrew and still one of the classiest SGs Ive seen.
Id keep both E strings. you could always use the high E for some lead style triplets and trills thrown in just to mix it up and push the djent envelope.
