Kurt the floyd rose should pivot from the 2 posts, you should be able to adjust the height of the posts, are they at or near maximum height ?
Don't sand the neck heel or pocket, it is important the mating surfaces are flush and level

Woks the height level of those posts are is pretty close to the maximum height at an estimate and still isn't high enough, I'm going to have to do something with the neck anyway because it was designed for a TOM bridge and slants backwards to compensate for such a height from the TOM, with it now being a floyd rose the neck has to be pretty flush with the body so I'm going to have to do something there anyway. If it were up to you woks, how would you go about it?
wait until DB gets his opinion in on the subject Kurt, but it might be a case of routing the neck pocket dead flat with a template to guide you and using a shim to compensate for the lost height
some nice work there Kurt, I'd sand the neck heal: you can always get a new neck if it doesnt work out
Well today I'm getting my paint and everything paint wise for the guitar. On another note does anyone happen to have any specs on the locking nut and how high I need to chick that up or something? I'm clueless at that point. As soon as that's done Im going to attempt to sand down the neck heel, hopefully all goes well. 👍
Having never had any experience with this kit I'm not familiar with the neck pocket setup but usually what happens with a TOM bridge setup is that there is a "break" angle cut into the neck pocket of the body so that the neck slopes downhill from the body. If this is the case (with these kits) I can't see sanding the neck is going to fix your issue as the "slope" in the neck pocket will still remain. By rights, to get your neck running level with the body you'd need to put a shim in the neck pocket therefore removing the break angle.
Okay so after putting a 360 degree spirit level on it, I've found the neck pocket is slanted by 1 degree and so is the neck. The neck will get sanded flat, not sure whether to file the neck pocket down a fraction or to chock it.
The Floyd kit didn't come with the specs for the locking nut? Is it a real Floyd (rip your nut out and replace it with the locking nut style) or is it a Kahler style (nut remains and the locking nut goes on the headstock)?
Either way the kit should have come with installation instructions. Floyd style locking nuts are a fairly invasive install, with bolts going right through the neck usually. So make sure you have it all sorted out before you start anything.
It's a genuine floyd but it came from a second hand dealer so it didn't come with any instructions at all. The locking nut is a proper locking but where I have to rip the old but out which is already done. I was sort of more concerned with heights etc.
dont know about Floyds, but most people seem to shim neck angle issues. If you sand, you will effectively lower the fret board by the same amount, so think about if that affects the build...
