cheers guys sonic wanted me to do something other than a strat lol was a bit worried i wouldn't be able to play it but was OK as its quite light pic's dont do it justice, so got another hollow body EX on the way going to do something bit different on it, these hollow body take a lot of work definitely not for noobe you want 2 or 3 build under the belt before you try one of these very easy to get wrong tested me at times but it was a enjoyable build to do quite pleased with it
Whoops double post.... can't wait to see what you do with the EX

This is super nice!
Hi Phozin, lovely work! That’s an interesting looking bridge on your hollow body, can you tell me what type it is? Cheers.
hi its a roller bridge it uses a 6mm holes for the posts where a tunematic uses a 10mm gibsons use a 6mm as well you need a blank body or dowel the hole and re drill it i have a couple on a couple of my builds really good for keeping in tune i quite like them
@ Sonic dohh its a ES lol type O after i do the ES i'm going to do a SG a EX and a prs and a JM-1 i figured i have enough strats after that i dont know but could be anything when i run out i troll cash converters you can pick up some cheap may just need a paint and a good set up,
Thanks for the details.I do have a blank on the way, I’ll look into them.
@Sonic i just ordered my next lot of builds no i didn't get a Strat (though i was tempted by another GS-2Q ) i order a JM-1, PRS-1H, TL-1Q, SV-1 and 2 hollow body's and i'm currently working on a ES-1 atm its cherry with a dark burst kids got me for fathers day but only at the clear stage be another week till i post it on the forum finally got some time as been fairly busy the last month or so i picked up a cherry Epiphone g400 with coil tapping from cash converters for a price that said take me home needs a cut and polish strings and a decent set up but that's no biggy
Awesome mate, can’t wait to see you work your magic on them.
been pretty busy the couple of weeks this is about all i have done its rit scarlet dye 1 pack to 120ml water with 50/50 black & clear burst normal 12 coats of clear used supercheap rattle can clear left it for 2 weeks still have to do headstock as waiting for some decals from the US which is taking an age to show up

You've really got the finishing down to a fine art mate. Lovely to see your work as always.
I'm really keen to have a crack at the Rit dyes, but I don't have any immediate projects lined up that would suit.
cheers guys, Criky Ded your up to 15 builds your as addicted as i am, theres no reason why anyone cant do the same phil you should know that your pretty handy with a gun, have a go with the rit dyes i listed the ones that work great could also use them under wipe on polly and tru-oil been doing a 50/50 on the burst lately to try soften the transition, that was a rattle can clear as run out of clear and supercheap sold off all there 4lt tins of clear the buggers and i upgraded my compressor but took ages to get as they were sold out, just been so busy atm i got 2 new amps which i havent been able to tear myself away from lol you know how that goes but got some good kits to do so stay tuned
Wow this is a really super finish!
Hey . Nice build . I've got the same axe but I'm stuck trying to find the exact wiring diagram. Would anyone here be able to tell me where the two yellow wires and the black wire go the rest are done . Muchly appreciated
Hey guy finally got back to doing my guitars currently i'm on a hollow body i posted just doing the final set up and she be done i also got a SG from PB this week and an epiphone i picked up from Cash converters for $150, its a g400 body was pretty knocked around so luckily it all sanded out and i'm going to reclear it with some 2k as lacquer wont stick to the original 2k be interesting to see how it comes up, i dont have any SGs in my collection the SG from Adam is Mahogany not sure the model here some pic's
here is the Epiphone G400

ok here's the PB SG
i have used Rit scarlet and done 3 coats of dye 2 I damp sponged off than left the last coat to get to the cherry i wanted, i have just got its 1st protective clear coats (3) used SCA rattle cans i always do protective coats over dye or stain, shes going to have Gibson 59 classic pups in it as i have had them for a few years and haven't used i'm tossing up if ill just leave it cherry or pop on a burst not sure yet SGs dont really look that good in anything than cherry or black, when this lot is done i'm going to start the PRS-1H & JM-1 i got a month ago from Adam i got a couple of finishes i want to try on them so stay tuned

Gosh - you really do just kill it every time with those finishes. You've set the bar high
How long between each coat of clear and did you block back at all?
Looking great!
Edit: all good just read your guide above. Cheers!

i do 1 vertical coat then 1 horizontal coat and 1 vertical coat all together then pending on the weather 10 to 20mins between every 3 header coats i lay 6 coats then dry over night then 800 w&d then the same again dry over night w&d 1200 then again i flow coat them when on the gun i use a 2to1 mix if using rattle i flow coat but only 2 coats if you have done it right you should have a very flat and shinny body off the gun then leave rattle can 1 full week and gun 3 to 4 days before polishing usually only need a light sand with 2000 then buff with sponge pads everyone can do it i have put a few posts how to get a glass finish on it, not really hard the real hard part is the dye or stain i like a good streak free and good penetration before i go anywhere near the clear thats were its at the prep you do determines the finish you'll get any spray painter will tell you the same pep is where its at not the clear stage :-)
my latest kit im doing, doing 4 kits atm its a PB LP1SS its rit yellow with brown burst and brown back its just about the clear stage couple off things i want to tidy up, ill probably clear it in the next day or so pretty simple one to do, not 100% sure if ill clear with lacquer or 2k leaning towards 2k atm

The burst on that LP is fantastic
bit of a quickie done this one in 2k clear has came up very shiny i used concept paint MS22 clear with hardener and premium reducer, done with 3 medium wet coats of clear was a bit of a shit to polish was like polishing a rock taken pick with my phone so doesnt do it justice. been trying a new way of grain filling over the dye, been busy so be a few i should finish this week will post when done. I wont be keeping this one too awkward to play for me
I haven't used concept paint products before but was a great product shine and hardness wise laid nice and excellent shine off the gun, for those who want to know $65 per liter with hardener i made up about 1/4lt and pot life was good and lasted 4 days in the fridge dry time was about 30 min's and polished the next day will use again

Lovely work as usual
Looking lovely mate!
Looks great.....been there, done that with feeding controls into that shape guitar. Took me about 6 attempts before I got everything sorted. Having done it on one build it will definitely be easier on any other semi hollow bodies.
