Geez, you could have at least tried to talk it up just for a good yarn if nothing else.
Sorry I don't do the exaggerated pig stories very well.

They have just put an archery range in at my pistol club, have thought about having a go but am a bit concerned about my rotorcuff, its the kind of injury that you don't know your getting till its too late.
I know what you mean Deddy, I blew my shoulder out a number of years ago playing cricket. I can't throw a ball any more without pain if I'm putting effort into it, but surprisingly, I can bowl with as much pace as I can get with no issues.
You might be surprised what you can do with your shoulder, depending on the activity.
yea Zan, I can handle shooting a shotgun for a match, but a few hours of sanding or polishing the car and I pay for it for a week
I have had a shoulder dislocated in the past but in find archery there isn't any sudden movements weird angles that upset it and it only gets sore after a big day of bow tuning (sighting in after I have changed something)

Oddly enough, archery done correctly doesn't use the shoulders so much as the back muscles - I was trained to squeeze my shoulder blades together at full draw rather than use my arms and shoulders. Now, that was years ago and nowadays with modern compound bows allowing about a 70% let off at full draw, things have got a little easier on the body!
If you want to have a go at bending a bow, I would suggest you rock up to a proper archery club - bow hunters or target - on a come and try day and have a crack under proper supervision.... the coaches are generally pretty good!
I thought I was a freak because I can still bowl but can;t throw overarm without pain leading to shouted rude words and a completely dead arm for half an hour or so. Obviously I'm not the only one!
However, shoulder problems shouldn;t affect archery, as Corsair says you use your back muscles.
Unfortunately that means that back problems have led to these two sitting on my wall as decoration for a few years :( I have had a lot of fun with them over the years though. It's a great sport Dedman, go to a come and try day and have a bash at it!

Between being too sick to attend, and still not feeling the best, but still wanting to train, I've been still attending classes where I can. Fantastic bunch of people to train with, who appreciate that I have previous experience, but don't hit me over the head when I don't understand something from the different style that they are teaching me. Having said that, the amount of bruises I've been getting concerned my Mum there at one point!!! She may be almost 70, but she still loves her Baby boy!!
Just completed my first grading, which earned me a white stripe to go with my white belt!!
good work Zandy, if anyone tries to steal your guitar or amp at a gig you can sort the thief out !

Ah ha.. so this is the Hobbies thread. Well I've already derailed the ugly thread with my cars, so here is another time eater - painting. I've been a bit slack of late, but usually have something on the go in this dept, the last couple of years I've been doing a lot of portraits.

those are awesome Sonic, what media?
Acrylic and housepaint - usually what ever I have handy :) The green one is pretty big, around 1200 x 900, the others are 600 tall. This what I actually went to uni for - graphic design actually guarantees a pay check though.
I like your renders too - I have a mate who does similar gear, but more sci fi/fantasy and erm..girls than 'gothic'.
This is his gallery on deviant art. https://laticis.deviantart.com/gallery/
Love your artwork Sonic
love your artwork Sonic, very talented. What is this significance of the building with the yellow background ?
Hey nice gallery your mate has. I haven't been able to keep up with all the latest advances in 3D.
I'm strictly self taught ( in everything I do) left school at 14 in 74
Pretty impressive work then. 3D is a LOT of work. I've done a fair bit of modelling for manufacture, but trying to make a pretty image is a daunting process. My mate has been doing it for about 10 years intensively and is now producing models and textures for DAZ and a few other people. I just don't have the patience - or the money to put into the work station. Painful enough to keep something current enough for my normal work.
This was actually a piece I did for a friend of mines Graphic design office. She had an office above the main drag here and this is sort of an amalgam of the buildings around it (that you don't normally look up and see) The colour choice was to fit in with her branding. While I did painting at uni, my major was ceramics and I've always been into architecture and buildings, I guess because I like geometric shapes, so this is a bit of an extension of that. I used to do a lot more abstract work, and my illustration stuff was a bit seperate from that. These paintings have very much been about re-injecting my design and illustration stuff back into my art practice....and now I sound like I'm back at uni again :/...
