I've tried Meguiars Ultimate compound to remove scratches on the lenses on my specs.
(probably would have tried toothpaste, but you only live once).
So I probably wouldn't hesitate to use it on a cavity cover.
cheers, Mark.

Can anyone help with this GFS humbucker wiring? I have two pickups with four wires, as in the bottom example in this pic...
Attachment 28552
And can't figure out which colours are equivalent to the wires in this Seymour Duncan wiring diagram...

Oh, also, how tight am I aiming for the fit of the bridge and tailpiece posts? I got some gold replacements from guitar fetish which are marginally larger than the kit hardware. Is it worth making the postholes slightly wider? They still fit in the holes but they are less tapered so they are definitely tighter - probably a silly question, but don't want to crack the wood or anything
Red is your ‘hot’ = Black on the SD diagram connecting to the volume lug.
White is your coil split wire, just insulate the tip with some tape so it can’t short on anything (red & white on SD diagram).
Black & Copper are your ground and shield = Green and bare on the SD diagram connecting to the back of the pot.
It's all together, plugged it in and it makes all the right noises. Just have to do the final set-up.
It's tuned low (drop C), and so I'm just using the stock nut until I'm sure I want to keep it that way, and then I'll cut a new nut from the pile of bone blanks I have kicking around.
Sorry they aren't the best quality photos - the lighting in our house is pretty rubbish. Will take better pics once it's properly finished

Yeah very cool, gold hardware looks great on the spalt. Some how manages to be subtle.
