To a certain extent I'd have to agree with you.
But, if you have the real pedals in front of you, and set them the same as the emulated ones, then compare, I'd say 7 times out of 10 you would prefer the individual pedals.

Personally, I think it's a matter of available 'Headroom' the individual pedals have over a emulated version of them.
Dynamic response seems to be much, much, faster using individual pedals..... everything react's at the same speed with emulation....it seems to me that using emulation adds a compression stage into the mix, that otherwise wouldn't be there, but that's just my perception of the differences, everybody has a subjective value factor.

I still value multi effect units.
I still don't think I'd pay out what asking for a new Line 6 Helix, or a Fractal effects processor.
Given that many choices those units give you, it's very easy to become undecided, and end up wasting time and effort, and basically losing the Musical Plot..... times like that, go grab a acoustic, and sit it the garden or equivalent, and bring it back to emotions

That whole clean thing is what got me interested in the H&K amp, they are known for a clinical clean, other than a overdrive my pedals are delay type ( echo, reverb, trem) as I'm not really into a lot of gainy sounds. Both my current amps have a valve in the pre-amp and solid state after, hence my interest in a tube amp. The little Vox I have has all the multi effects and amp sims but to be honest I like the sound out of the little Orange Micro Terror with the gain turned right down, better.

Search Ebay for a Gallien Krueger 250ML. made for a short while in the 80's....a LOT of session guys swore by these back then, they can do everything
Small, and very light.

Take what you hear in the video below as a none optimal demo, the guy has a the MIC lying flat on a blanket, so the sound picked up by it will be out of phase, and lack the AIR normally associated with this amp when heard in the flesh.

For what would be AUS$450 delivered at the buy it now price [seller up for offers], I can't see anything better either new or used that would beat it under AUS $1800 current

^^^ Though they did use them through bigger cabs (which every studio had lying around). The sound on their own through the two small speakers was less than impressive. I was going to buy one back in the '80s until I heard one in the flesh. Ended up with an ADA rack pre-amp (another favourite of the age), Quadraverb, Marshall 8008 power amp and a couple of 1x12" speakers instead.

Still better than anything new available now as I see it, ...well show me a equivalent:D

I'm no longer a session muso, haven't been for nearly 10 years, and stopped gigging a few years ago, mainly due to hearing loss [ and over it, lugging gear etc ]
Thankfully, most of my hearing has recovered over time.

What about upping the ante to a 30 watter? I've got an Orange Rocker 30 I could be convinced to sell, (coz I've also got a Rockerverb 50 mkII) I've heard they are very similar to an AC30, but I've never played an AC30 to confirm.

I've also heard that they could be compared to a Marshall. I just know I love the tones I get from it. Pure Joe Walsh with no pedals at all.

Well, it's all academic because I'm without an income atm so spending has come to a halt.

Both of those amps need to be played at VOLUME to get the wanted tones.

Even at 15 watts, a VOX AC1 amp [with Blue Speaker] is way loud enough for a gig , it would easily fill a room with 100 people in it.

Most situations in bigger gigs, the house PA people will mic up your amp, and play it through the P.A., so no need for a double stack etc [Unless you are a Death Metal Band ---sorry , can't find the wanker icon ]

The Fender Blues Jr is also a great little 15W amp. I'm not sure what the current stock Mk 3 version sounds like, but I recently swapped the stock speaker from my friend's Mk 1 with the one from my Two Rock Studio Pro 22 combo (a WGS model) and it transformed it from a very boxy sounding amp to something superb and very similar to the Two Rock (which now has a creamback in it). The newer Fender Bassbreaker amps do also sound rather interesting in the Andertons videos. I class Andertons as my 'local' music shop and has been for the past 40 years. I used to live a lot closer to it (it's now a 40 minute drive away), so it's still relatively easy for me to go and try out gear. But 22W is my most powerful amp. My mate gigs with two Blackstar HT-5s.
