And done... Phew. I thought initially the OTT shielding was causing the issue. But it now plays with minimal background noise!

Looking good Andrew. Nice work on the wiring. Looking forward to hearing those new pups wail! She really is a nice looking strat dude.
cheers,
Gav.
Andrew looking awesome. It will be interesting to see in a month your feedback on the changes. I always find when I do changes I get a bit of a "gain" in my playing wether the better tone or feel makes you keener and you tend to spend more time playing than usual.
@Gav. Thanks for that. I'm really pleased with this Strat. It was my first build and a bit 'rough' around the edges but now tweaked to my satisfaction. It has been interesting revisiting an old project
@Doc - lol, next strat will use far less shielding tape! Being my first build it was overkill in all areas. Like the foil tip.
@Tony - I reckon its partly due the layout of the pickguard. Everything is placed nice and logically & easily accessible.
@Blueshound - I've plugged this in this morning much to the dismay of my neighbours! Twangier, louder, much more dirt. Even on low gain I can get some feedback effects.
One thing to note for would-be up-graders is that to fit the CRL type switch you have to cut a bit more out of the cavity to accommodate it. Also quite a bit of additional weight is added with full size pots etc. but it feels nice and solid.
I may upgrade the bridge later but considering I've hard-tailed it I'm not convinced splashing out on a new one with a hefty steel block is worthwhile.
Cheers Vh. The change in tone is incredible and the tone knobs actually do something now!
Nice work Andrew, it looks the business.
Not only looks great but will sound so much better too. Cant wait for the soundclip.
Very slick Andrew, you'll enjoy it a lot more now I bet
