Love the shape and colour .What was your experience using the flap wheel ,I was thinking of using one to remove some clear finish but worried it might not be good for flat surfaces ,What do you reckon. It's hard to see on pics but sand blasting looks to of accented the grain beautifully. Nice Guitar Nige .I look forward to hearing the next track .What pickups you going to use bro .
Good luck you sound like your really enjoying this build.

Damn the finish is coming out nice already! Isn't 100% as what you showed in the photos but I personally like it!
Yeah as far as taking a finish off I wouldn't recommend it Kim, you're gonna get gouges (especially on a flat surface) and it would be more trouble than it's worth sanding them out. if the body isn't bound did you ever consider paint remover? I used some on my Blacktop LP and it pulled it off a treat, you've just got to be careful because it can eat your binding.
I'm gonna have to go with the standard pups for now because I'm poorer than a homeless person hehehe
Barge, the stock pups are still quite nice, I've gigged with my Strat (albeit small gig) and the stock pups held up nicely!
There was only one ash body in those pics and that had beautiful big wide grain so unfortunately I had to make do with what I was given.
Obviously a tight grain just isn't going to take the black and give a contrast like something with big open pores.
I may even do another black coat yet and see what happens. Cheers bro.
I may or may not have something that I literally just mucked around with on bass....
