I just converted them to 4-wire for splitting etc, and swapped the magnets to Alnico II and V, bridge and neck respectively... but haven't finished the guitar they're going into yet.
which build are the modded humbuckers for Weirdy ?
@Wokka, my nephew's long awaited SG-1F... so I'm building a distortion pedal for him at this very moment to ease the pain of the wait.
nice one Weirdy, haven't seen any pics of the SG-1F, bet it's a winner. Can't wait to hear the modified pups with Alnico magnets
@Wokka, will have to drop in sometime - about 50min away from me. If you are in the swan valley anytime feel free to drop in.
@Weirdy, sounds close to what I am trying to achieve without the split. Was thinking an alnico 2 in the neck and alnico 4 for the bridge. Funny you should mention distortion pedals, I made a TS808 clone with a keeley boost mod. I must get around to pulling it apart for a jazzy paint job at some point.
no worries Kane, send me a message if you want to call by sometime or I'll let you know if I'm in Swan Valley.
Reader poll,
upgraded jack plate: nickel, or cream?
Hey Kane,
presuming rest of the hardware will be the supplied chrome, will you be using the cream pup surrounds ?
This may influence my advice !
I haven't seen too many cream jack plates, can you please post an example what you are proposing?
Wokks,
a lot of the old school LP's had cream jack plates. Now my LP will have all gotoh hardware - nickel, with all parts cream pickup surrounds and probably upgraded pickguard etc. Pic attached below, so imagine my desert burst with same colour hardware.
