ah ok I use marine ply for my templates works well. The coating will protect the top and bottom surfaces nicely.
The control cover will be a tele shape right, I mean with no holes in it !

The inside cavity is exactly the size of a Tele control plate, whereas the control plate itself will be a fair bit bigger (you can just see the outline marked in pencil).Quote:

Not really sure I'd rely on a "nice tight fit" to hold the control cover in place, you'd never get it off again. nah I've got another little trick up my sleeve.Quote:

Might pay to put your switch and pots in the check the depth of the cavity make sure you can get a thread on them ok
Rare earth magnets would do the trick...
ah nice one DB hadn't thought of that, might try that next cover plate I make that I don't want screws to hold it in place
