Yes but the difference is its an Acrylic resin based paint, is fast drying and is a very tough cleacoat. Its made by Roberlo and you can sand and paint the next day, 3 days and you can cut and polish. Awesome stuff to work with. One can can do 5-7 good coats and costs about $17 au a can. The metallic base coat is $27 but they can mix any colour you like.

problem with acrylic over wood the clear will take ages to harden so every time you try to polish it you'll get fingerprint marks or even lay it on anything you will get makes from what you lay it on in it and it will also make everything under it soft can be a real pain even if you keep it in a warm place the best you'll get is just hard enough to polish in about a week, if you still not hard in a month you got some problems with it acrylic is simple to use but its not very forgiving can make all your hard work stuffed. if you're using a spray tin acrylic clear it has a retarder to make it dry slower so better to use spray gun with thin coats or just use a 2k product
just so you know i am a spray painter for real or should i say used to be before i chucked a motorcycle down the road and ended up in a chair hope that helps you :-)
You could be right, timber is a lot more porous, although if you grain filled it it should be ok. I will be using it over my next one which will be stained. Our local "The Paint Place" stocks it, but if they dont have it they probably could get it for you. Id be very careful about putting it over your acrylic until its properly cured. As everyone here tells you, try a sample first. Good advice.
My buddy swears by this two pack, but I've yet to try it

I reckon that stuffs the business. I use a 1k product, and thats 2k even harder. It says no primer needed, recoat 1 hr. Sounds awesome. With my 1k i touched up a corner of the clear last night and this morning sanded and recoated it. Id give that 2pak a go, and its turps based.
link in my signature, unfinished - LP build for my sister

That colour has come up awesome dude!
cheers Eric, picked it cos it was so unusual, it flashes blue and green. now the wait to finish it..lol.
Nice work Nitro getting a gloss finish
you are definitely on the home stretch Nitro. Have you tested the wiring ? Next build you will have all the experience of this build under your belt so sure your next build will be even better !
Tested the wiring tonight,
the volume works a treat, and the push pull coil split works, not sure on the master series/parallel and phase push pulls but there is power to the pups when pulled. Only problem ive got is i put the 3 way switch in back to front so when up is selected its the bridge, middle is still both, and down is the neck. Thats gonna annoy me so ill reverse it tomorrow, its only 6 connections. Otherwise i think its ok.
Ive picked out my next project, its a SG-1 or 2. With SG-1 i dont think ill be able to do a set neck, but with SG-2, with bolt on neck theres a 6 week wait for backorder as they dont keep it in stock!! I dont want to wait that long. Dilemmas.
Hey Wokka, whos that great guy that custom cuts the pickguards for everyone? Do you know what price he charges?
Next installment... Body has been buffed, but needs more drying time before everything is fitted. Off to my bro in laws place this weekend for a few days hol. Will learn what i can from his skills while im there, setting up intonation etc. Will post more pics soon.
Hi Nitro have fun with your bro in law.
I missed a question about custom pickguards, PM Pablopepper, he usually asks for a trade so you buy him something online for his builds. His rates are very good for forumites.
don't be put off by set necks, they aren't as scary as I thought at first. It's just like a bolt on except you glue and clamp instead of drill and screw, the prep is the same with the bridge in place and the 2 e strings
LOL, there will be 4th fifth and sixth I bet, the only reason I haven't got more kits lined up is that all my major bills fall in June July
if you go over 4.6 on the GAS-o-liser they lock you in the Naughty Warehouse under the stairs with Wokka
Haha funny one fellas. If you got Gas doesn't matter how Many kits you build at once
How many guitars is enough ? All of them...
Sorry took so long getting back, went away for a week, no signal in the blue mountains. Their called Uniball signo broad, pigment ink, um-513 WHITE. Got mine in big w, but most newsagents should carry them. I was able to put a poly over the top without it smudging.
Hi Marelton, ive been working with multiple types and brands of paint my whole life and there is never a guarantee that they wont react. Ive even used the exact type of paint but different brands and still had a paint reaction. You must always do a test piece first to guarantee adhesion. Always use thin or mist coats and then build them up slowly instead of heavy coats when using different types of paint, this helps to avoid a reaction. Also make sure all coats are completely dry before testing. Hope this helps.
Hey Nitro good advice mate.
@ Marelton the safest bet is to use the same brand of paint has always got me the best results. Mixing brands usually ends in tears and lots of sanding haha
Yea @ Marelton Wokka is on the money...
