I'm also realising just how awful I am with wiring. Fitting it all in the cavity is insane, very difficult for someone with my lack of skill to do this with such a small amount of space. . The wiring's also made a touch more difficult with the pickup wires being braided 2 - I have to solder two massive metal wires to the one pot. It's a mess, and I've struggled a lot with it. But I'm sure it'll all work out in the end.

Dad's commented a few times on how it looks. I'm still so happy he doesn't know it's for him yet.

Yeah it's a hell of a squeeze isn't it! Mine has standard size pots but also has to fit a bus board for the active pickups into it. It is very tightly packed!

Yeah, it really is. Just waiting on tuners, then I'll re-wire it again, cause I'm not convinced this will work, my wiring's shoddy at best.

But that's okay. This is all a learning process anyway, if I always got this kind of stuff right I'd be working for Fender.

he he LOL! I'm not sure your EX is a causal factor in the turnaround but i guess it pays to be cautious eh!

Milestone night for me.

I got new pots and some cloth wire and got to work.

And I am delighted to announce that the wiring works as it should now.
I'm sure there are gremlins in there but if I touch either pickup with a metal object it goes bzzt in the right 3-way position, and the other one doesn't, in the middle pickup it does both.

Feeling good! Didn't ruin a thing!

I finally got the guitar up and running today, so Dad's been gifted it now.

We have a little bit of work to do with the setup but... look, you wanted a demo and it's here. I'll spare you from listening to my Dad's first time playing guitar, so it's my ugly mug instead, just a little bit of stuffing around, all good stuff. Tried to show off some cleans, fuzz, distortion, all the pickups and some different stuff, so hopefully this works for you guys.

It's not perfect, but I think it sounds pretty great. All through my AC15C1, fuzz is from a Fuzzface, distortion's from a DS-1A.
