Some surgery required today, firstly the pickup was to big for the bridge plate so I had to grind it out to make it fit. I then had to route the pickup cavity to move it forward so I can get the scale length correct .

I think some routing might be required as I'm still not happy with the amount of adjustment at the low E when I measure the scale length. It's slowly coming together, the SD pickup looks awesome 😎

Things have been ticking along slowly with this build, I thought it was about time for an update :D
I have been applying tru oil to the neck and am really pleased with the results and amazed at how easy and forgiving this stuff is to work with. I applied 3 coats then wet sand with 800 grit then applied another 3

I did some soldering today and managed to burn 3 fingers on my left hand... No playing for a while. Anyway I got as much done as I could prior to final assembly. I bought all new pots and switches, the kit stuff was pretty ordinary. I had to enlarge the control cavity to make way for the switch depth and pots.

Me too , can't wait to get the paint on, it's the only thing holding me back now. im thinking 3-4 coats of clear over the gold, dry for a week or two, cut back with 1500 and re coat with another 3-4 clear coats .Don't want to rush the finale steps so I could be another month or two before final assembly...:mad:Quote:

looks great JP, nice shade of gold. It's a bit darker than the gold tele I recently finished I used a White Knight Super gold paint
