Just smacked it on the back until the bushings fell out... Why, is there a better way of doing it?

hell yeah, just slip the claw of the hammer under the bridge and lever away - bridge and bushings all come out in one go

I've gone for JBA-4 but (luckily...??) its on back-order until Sep.... (time to slip-stream in some upgrades until then..)
