Really great looking job, Andrew ... I bet the photos don't do the figuring justice but even in the pics it looks super sweet!
She's going to be one damn nice little SG when you're done!

Cheers guys. Tell you what, this has become a test of my patience waiting for the curing process, I just want to plug this one in and crank out some extremely loud power chords!
looking nice and shiny Andrew with 4 coats of naughty oil. Unfortunately you have to be patient or get another build on the go !
Some more wetsanding complete to 1000 grit. I've now thinned the TO 50/50 with white spirit, goes on a lot easier with a lot less streaking. Now applying 3x coats between each progressively finer wetsanding. I'll write up my method (that seems to work for me) after this build to share with others.
Made a start on neck, shaved some of right side of headstock to even things up a bit. Have dyed the front of headstock black (using some leftover FW prooftint - this stuff is awful to use..). I'll wipe on poly over this plus decal to follow.
Undecided on neck, maybe some color as body, natural with TO or maybe a slight amber tint. I'll think about this over a coffee or two..
Fretboard looks ok, no blemishes to fix up. frets all in order apart from levelling. Nice grain along the length of fretboard.
Headstock looks great Andrew (I reckon the Gib shape always looks its best in its traditional black!) - you're going to need a nice name for it to really set it off (in white of course! :D)
coming along very nicely Andrew, black headstock always looks the goods on the G type shape. I think either neck colour option will look good
Andrew that is just sweet looking!
That body is looking fantastic Andrew.
Hey Andrew
I had aspirations of buying this kit and doing something similar to your outstanding work.
I just love how that flamed cap looks! Rippling. gleaming. mesmerising.
However, I shelved the idea to persue some quirkier jobbies which have been sitting around for toooo long. Also bought an SV-1 kit when it came up on special (too good to miss)
Now it's all your fault that I want an SG-1F all over again . . .
Go for gold maxaxe, this kit has far exceeded my expectations and worth aquiring if you want some good ole SG goodness!
