I don't think I'll do the half guard of the newer model. More likely something full width like in the original model. I was also thinking that way I could route the cavity without committing to it, and iterate later.
I am warming towards the Destroyer for the output compatibility, though the Peacemaker would allow a HHH setup.

I have not had a problem balancing them. It may or may not have any effect, but the neck and bridge pickup have different pole spacing, 50mm and 52mm respectively.Quote:

I think I was confusing the Firebucker II with the FireBucker as to Strattyness. My Oil City Firebird pickups are definitely at the Fender end of things and definitely not traditional Gibson-like humbuckers.
As the bobbins will be different to accommodate the 50mm and 52mm spacings, then it may be that they are wound for slightly different outputs.

With the caveat that the control cavity will get some additional angled depth (I'm thinking some sort of angled shim for the router to work on).
The bench plane I bought recently (with all the paraphernalia and preparation that entails) is starting to get some good use.
