Decking is getting ready for a new decking, was just pricing the timber today, or i could say i like the rustic look
nice one Tony, so did you go to the local bottlo to get the pricing on the decking ?
No i did it from home, but i do have a few of these in the fridge...

nice one Tony, our 330ml Duvel bottles are a much shorter stubbie and shorter neck. Nice beer to have while you shop online !
Mine is 750ml Wok :p
Someone asked me the best way to sand inside the bouts on the guitar, it can be a shocker of a job by hand, i use this method, cant claim its mine, but cant remember who showed me.
I get a piece of 32mm PVC cut 2 lengths 250mm one of the lengths i cut all the way down the length a bit shorter than half way.
You get a piece of whatever paper you are using and wrap it around the whole piece then snap the cut piece into place, instant curve sander.
2 bits one cut nearly in half
Attachment 8740
Clipped together, makes a great sanding tool for curves
Attachment 8741
Works a treat
ah got it Tony, the Duvel bottle didn't look big enough for a 750ml, maybe your PC monitor is big ! Our 750mls are the same shape.
nice tip on the curve sanding, which part of the axe are you using this for ?
PS you might want to edit your post to say PVC, not PVV !
I am using it at the moment on a telecaster neck where the headstock joins the neck, just to do a fix for a guy who did a real big oops and made it look like crud.
Inside upper and lower bouts on the 335 to round it nicely.
I have used this trick for ages on just about every sanding job i have
nice tip Tony and you can always use different diameter PVC pipes to suit the sanding job
Nice trick..
Think I will have to remember that one.
Back to the dye today, sanded it back a fair bit then some more grain filler than sanded off and i got what i was after, added a splash of dye then waited until it dried, darkened it up and went again. Once ihit it with some poly it should look nice.
Tomorrow i will run a very slightly damp cloth over it to take some excess, then hit it once more a little darker cherry again and that it no more, i will fit some hardware and finish the neck, i was going to spray some black enamel on the heel, its the only way around this problem, but i will wait until tomorrow and hopefully we dont have this 80% humidity.
First coat still damp
Attachment 8895
Second slurp a bit darker, will have a look tomorrow see if its as deep as i want it.
Attachment 8896
nice colour Tony, should look great with some cherry stain
Looks like its darkening up as it absorbs and dries, i was going to do a burst but i really cant be bothered now (hate to stuff it and start again), this now looks like the tops done.
Attachment 8897
so that is darker just from curing Tony ?
no need for a burst it looks fine as it is.
Yeh Wok just from curing, when i put a satin poly on it should look shmick
Lets see how some hardware looks

Reminds me to run and earth wire from the post
Looks great Tony. Perfect colour!
cheers,
Gav.
I am happy with it Gav it is what is, but i do like the Color Tone Cherry red
The troubles with the heel continue, the more i persist with it the worse it gets, nothing will take so plan B:
What happens is the bog wont take, then when it does it just falls back out again grrrr.
Get some black gloss rattle can paints and mask off the guitar.
I put some paint daown in the crack and left it for 24hours, then bogged it again, got some slight cracking so bogged it again, sanded it back for the 30th time until smooth then shot it with black enamel, sanded it back then hit it again, this will now wait 24 hours then i will shoot a fine coat after steel wooling it, i actually use a synthetic 0000 pad for this.
What a PIA this neck heel is
Gave it a spray the 30mins later light sand making sure i got the crack settled, then hit it again a bit harder.

This small thing was sent to test me grrr
you will get there Tony, stick at it and you will get the result you are after
Well i went to finish staining the body, i only had the sides to do and i was going to go black.
I put a light stain coat on and spun the guitar around and shock horror, my other glove had black stain on it and i touched the top in 3 spots   why didnt i mask the back and top? what was i thinking grrrrr, i know dont go do guitars when your over tired.
Scrub a dub dub, sand, sand, sand, a bit of naptha, a tiny bit of metho and we had it out, then restained the whole top x2 again.
Whilst i was at it i had some cherry left over, and thought i wonder what it will look like over the black so away i went.

Sometimes mistakes to lead to something else, something better than what you were thinking.
I am going with this, i like it.
And the body survived, after this soaks in a dries out it should look nice
Attachment 8957
love the cherry on the sides Tony.
Yes it is so easy to get the wrong colour from a glove or cloth on the wrong part of the axe.
Love the top as well, have you already knocked your 4 bridge/tailpiece bushes in ? Hope you remembered the earth wire !
Yeh its looking nicer as it absorbs
I have done it before, i am sure it wont be the last time, better than spilling a cup of stain like my mate did a few years ago, all over a body that wasnt his.
yes i will run the earth after i have completed the finish, havent forgotten, i run the earth to the thread and screw.
Side of the top bindings done, starting to look nice, have to the the F holes side and back yet.
Attachment 8989
Here's what i use, the area where i have marked on the tip of one of the blades in my Leatherman Wave, would have to be the most used tool in my workshop, and when i am out in the bush prospecting..
Attachment 8990
looking good Tony, we can't see the sides of the top binding in the photos but sure they are crisp
doing the F Holes at the moment Wok, you need a break about every 15mins, fun fun.
Binding finished
Attachment 8995
beer o'clock after that effort
More parts for the guitar
2 sets of Gotoh Mini Locking tuners in Cosmo Black classy eh
Attachment 9137
Ooh, cosmo black on this red is gonna look tight. Good choice.
I have been all over the shop with what i am going to do with this guitar Pabs, just getting it ready for some Poly U then i will get the wiring done.
Slowly getting there :D
1st very fine coat of minwax wipe on poly, hard to see here, trying to juggle for the camera and didnt want the neck to hit the dirt
Attachment 9142
Sanded back the neck this morning with some good old 0000 then gave it a second wack with MinWax wipe on Poly
Attachment 9150
Next going to give the body a light 0000 run over then a wipe down with naptha, and i hope to do the top and sides today.
Nice progress, this will be a beast, love the cosmo black hardware
Cant wait to get the tuners on and the neck on.
I have using kitchen shhhhh (shes at work) to do the body, its too hot in my shed.
Have done the top waiting for it to absorb and dry out, i will give it until tomorrow to recoat, tek it back with some 0000 and go again, they say 3 hours but its still a bit tacky then, i prefer to let it cure.

Nothing like an email from the sweetheart herself, Becky Lawrence
Tony, getting ready to ship the L-90's this week and you'll receive an e-mail via www.stamps.com with shipping updates soon.
Thanks again,
Becky
so my Bill Lawrence L90's for this build are on their way this week, thats unless i decide to put the humbucker out of a tele blacktop in it, and put the L90's in the tele blacktop body haha all good fun.
I've been tracking this one from the sideline Tony. You have a very nice cherry colour going on here. This will look awesome with the finish & hardware.
Cheers Andrew
i have tried to melt the cherry red on the top to the black cherry sides to the red mahogany top, i may have just tinny arsed it.
Back and sides with one coat of Poly U
