Thanks guys.
It is just about all together.
Wiring seems OK to a tap test.
Neck is glued and clamped.
Had one setback when the wire under the bridge post snapped off. I knocked up a jig to remove the post - not a lot of damage that will be covered by the bridge in any case.
So I need to wait for the glue to set, then I just have the pick guard and intonation.
Oh, then I need to actually gain some ability to play the darn thing :)
I'll update the piccies when the clamps come off.

Still clamped.

stunner Rabbitz, that is gonna be a mean looking axe when finished. I got a LP-1M in the pile debating what colour to stain it. Thinking dark green or butterscotch DT - think you inspired me, Maybe a red/yellow sunburst

That second pic on the last page is going straight to the pool room.
I mean... the Facebook page.
Looking amazing!

DONE
Finally, painstakingly, slowly but done.
Attachment 4572
Well almost.
The bastard thing won't stay in tune, but no need to panic. It has only had tension on it for 24hrs and I am using the set up string set.
I'll give it a week or so, a fresh set of strings and then PANIC
:p
-
hey Rabbitz as you say don't panic the neck needs to set in. Also good tip to stretch the strings so they wind around the tuners really tight. It really needs to be played for several hours for the neck to settle in.
-
That looks fantastic Rabbitz!
Holy cow, the Ric in the background has a slight case of 'tail lift'!
-
She's a 35 or 40 year old Emperador - weighs an absolute ton.
Amazingly she has the "Stereo" output - not that it has ever been used in anger.
-
Love that color Rabbitz - you've done a great job with this one!
-
Looks superb mate, probably one of my favourite builds I've seen so far! Excellent job, now put this sucker in GoTM

Well done Rabs. It looks great.

Love the colour Rabbitz. Really pops the flame.

Thanks Guys!
It's been a bit over a week and as expected it is starting to settle down.
However, I really need to address the nut height / depth. Using feeler gauges it's about 0.40mm above the first fret when fretted at the third, so not too far out but enough to make set up awkward.
I've ordered a real cheapie set of nut files from China - which will have to do for now.
-
Well the files arrived.
The wood has settled down and now it holds tune.
So a few licks with the files, a tweak of the bridge height and the truss rod and there it is.
Done.
All that remains now is to solve the issue of the lack of talent of the owner... :)
To say I am well pleased is an understatement.
Thanks to everyone who helped, and thanks the Pitbull for doing the hard yards to bring us such great toys.
-
well done Rabbitz, so did you put a bone nut in ? Will improve the sound heaps on a plastic nut
-
Hi Woks,
Right now it is the stock plastic nut. I am completely buried with work and other time burning challenges, so I just wanted to get it playable.
(it's just a pity I can't do it justice!)
I have another project on the go right now (a model of a Adelaide Class Frigate) and a ST-1 on the way. Once I get the ST-1 underway, I will replace both nuts.
Given my lack of free time, I still don't know when I'll get through either new project! At least I've finally got the paint for the model. (If you think guitar colours are hard, try getting the particular shade of green/grey the RAN use - I finally found out what it is - AS2700 N42 Storm Grey - and the local paint shop has made me some but only time will tell how good their mixing is).
