just finished cutting out the head stock.
Originally, wanted to go for a classic fender style but due to my lack of skill on the saw we've ended up with something a little more funky. Quite happy with how this has turned out though.
Next step, sanding...sanding...and more sanding...

After an afternoon of sanding I got around to applying my first coat of Butterscotch the other day.
After reading around the forum I found most people saying to mix the BS and white mix to a desired level (I did 50/50 but I'm not sure if this is going to turn out the best, its only the first coat so I might try something else later).
I applied it to the body and aside from some uneven patches its looking decent, maybe not the right shade of BS but still decent. I'm really liking the grain on the back, the front is okay its just looking a little bland to me.

I then wondered what to do about the neck. Thinking that an unstained neck might not look great with a stained body and after reading some posts saying you can use Dingotone stain on the neck as well I decided to give it a crack with my 50/50 mix. It came out exactly the same as the body, which may/may not be great.

Looking at it in a new light after a few days I'm not sure what to do... the back looks fine but a little yellow, I think I'd like a more light straw but darker coloured finish. could try just rubbing the butterscotch over it without the white mix? Not sure what to do about the fretboard as its now VERY yellow...

I think where I stuffed up was applying it to the fretboard as well. I know this might make some people recoil in horror.
In hindsight I'm thinking that things might have looked better if I picked up an actual neck finish from Dingotone but seeing as I didn't where should I go from here?
Here's some picks of the kit, neck and board with the hardware in to get an idea about how it may look finished. I'll post those in the next one as there's a post limit on how many photos I can add.
So yeah, as always I would LOVE some inpute/feedback/advice.
Where should I go from here folks? In particular any ideas on what the finish should be, what I should do about the neck/fingerboard
Staining fret board same colour is not a bad thing. As for the DT neck finish you could still buy some and use that instead of the DT final top coat finish.

If you are not pleased with the colour, you can always sand it back a tad and then on your next coat, cut back the yellow to 30/70 or 40/60. The fretboard is trickier, but if you lightly sand it back you might be ok as it is. Just lightly.
So, another thing I've been contemplating about is the binding.
(PS thanks for bearing with all the updates/posts - I've been unwell for a while and I'm getting back on track with the build so again thanks for your patience with this one)
I read this thread a while back (unfortunately I struggled to find it today) where some builders and DB were discussing sanding/using steel wool to take a bit of the stain of the binding. I gave it a go and it help a little the only issue is I can't seem to get all of the stain off. Whats the best method for dealing with the whole stain vs. binding issue.
PS I did try putting some tape on before but it was difficult to get it to stick correctly so I was hoping this method would be good.
Here's a couple of picks after trying to work on the binding.
I sanded it down with 400, didn't take off much so I tried 180 and 320 and it seemed to take of a decent chunk. Only issue was the stain being affected a tad so I might need another method.
