Sorry typo....I am thinking that with gold hardware I want a dark stain.

Ok so theres been some progress tonight. Got the recess for the control cover routed...ended up making a template and using a straight bit router. Am very happy with the results!! Also made a recess for the jack to sit in so that's its flush with the body of the guitar. Did this by plugging the hole with some dowel and the used a larger drill bit to make the recess. Pretty simple but seemed to work.

Nice work Ruben the route looks clean as! Looking like this is going to be a great build.
Aaannd...also got a stain coat on the body. Very citrusy DB I like it! Am going to try three coats of this...its colourless...and if it doesn't darken like I want it to then im gonna have to try TO or something.
Thing is, its actually got a nice looking grain and if it pops more then I don't want to go too dark with the stain. However gold hardware is my thing so I want at least the body dark enough to make the gold shine.
Havent done the neck yet...time for a sleep I reckon.

So...I was wondering whether I can do another coat of stain coat today, or whether I have to leave it fro 3-4 days???
Hi Ruben,
looks great and your friend nailed the cover recess looks very clean !
I thought you were going to put an amber/brown stain instead of colourless ?
Better leave it at least 2-3 days before the next coat Dingotone doesn't have any drying agents and it's winter. What state do you live in ?
Here's an example tp pic DB's in wudtone dark tease and mine in wudtone amber stains
Well I only bought the colourless dingotone cause I was originally gonna use the black hardware that come with the kit. Now that the gold is coming I really want it darker...like darker than the dark tease even. To might have to be it...or I can get someone to mix up a darker colour for me. DO people think that TO will be dark enough for the gold hardware to really stand out?
Wokka, I'm in NSW, Tamworth, and its been pretty hot here (plus ive got it in my workroom with the heater on 25'c :P)
Hey Ruben, the tru oil will darken a little but no where near even my amber colour. Sure DB could mix you up a deep brown stain. You will need to sand off the colourless on the top for it to soak in though.
I'm sure the gold hardware should stand out enough if you apply more coats of colourless or TO
Yeah well I've done two stain coats already so I don't really want to change much now. I'll do the intensifier coats and see what happens. In any case the guitar in my profile pic looks pretty good even though its light with gold hardware. Does the body or neck need sanding between the coats?
